THIS WEEK'S QUESTIONS ...

5/6/08Do I have the right clubs?

Q: I am just learning to play golf and bought a new set of clubs from a golf store. There are called Voit, Are they a good type of club to start with? They measured me and made the clubs to suit me.

A: Myrna, Which brand name of club you choose is up to you but the mere fact that you were measured and fitted for the clubs is a good sign. Having clubs that fit to your body type, whether tall or short, long arms or short arms, is a great way to start in the game! Too often new golfers just grab an old set of any clubs and play which can make picking up the game a little harder. You're off to a good start! The Linkster.

4/14/08Sandtrap second guess

Q: What's the rule on taking a practice swing in a sandtrap?

A: It's quite simple really. You can take a practice swing in a sandtrap just as long as you don't ground your club. The moment you ground your club or any club that you may be carrying with you, you will incur a 2-stroke penalty or loss of hole in match play. Simply put, take a practice stroke, just don't touch the sand. The Linkster

4/12/08How do I make time for golf?

Q: I work like a dog, but love golf. How do I make time for it in my busy schedule?

A: The Linkster thinks the best way to make time for golf is to make it a priority. If it is just a past time than you'll never have time for it and you'll always find something else to do. Try joining a league or blocking off time every week just like you would to go food shopping or hit the gym. Another option if your lifestyle allows for it - have a family golf outing once a week to the range or your nearest short game practice facility. Enjoy your new-found time for golf. The Linkster

4/11/08What's the right look for the links?

Q: What's appropriate to wear on the golf course?

A: The good news is your options are virtually endless! A comfortable yet flattering pair of golf shorts, one of many skorts, or khaki capris - the choice is yours. As for your top, go sleeveless or choose a conventional golf shirt in a colour that matches your mood or your game! Have fun out there, The Linkster
