One of the LPGA Tour's young stars talks to SGW, cyber-style.

SGW: You’re famous around the world for your pink outfits. If the LPGA Tour suddenly banned pink, what would be your back-up colour?
CREAMER: Hmm . . . if the LPGA Tour were to suddenly ban pink, I think I’d probably go look for another tour to play on!
SGW: Last season you’re wearing Sundog eyewear which you helped design. How did you get together with a Calgary-based company and did you enjoy designing your signature line?
CREAMER: Sundog was introduced to me by my management company, IMG, after Sundog approached them about me. Sundog was not just interested in putting something out in the market place with my name on it. They actually relied on my input to help them design sunglasses which were not only performance driven, but fashionable looking. Most sunglasses don’t satisfy both of those areas. I wanted to have sunglasses that looked good and performed well, whether I was on the golf course or not. Sundogs now do! I am very proud to have played an active role in the design of the four different styles of the Paula Creamer Collection. I look forward to hopefully working with Sundog for a long time to come. Wearing sunglasses is not only cool, it’s smart, given the eye damage which can be caused by continued exposure from the sun.
SGW: How old were you when you started to play golf, and when did you realize that you were good enough to play on the best women’s tour in the world?
CREAMER: I was 10 years old when I first started playing golf. I played with my dad, who introduced me to the game. He made it fun for me, so I never stopped wanting to play. I probably didn’t realize I might be good enough to play on the tour until I was about 15, but my goal to play at the highest level dates back to when I was about 13. I did not want to be a player who took two to three years to win on tour. David (Leadbetter) said I would win in my first 10 events. Well, my ninth event was the Sybase Classic and I won. David always reminds me of his prediction which came true!
SGW: If you played a tour event wearing a head set, what music would be playing on your iPod?
CREAMER: You wouldn’t believe what’s on my iPod. I have just about everything on it. Pop, Top 40, hip-hop, country, rap, oldies, you name it — it’s on my iPod. It’s all mixed in, so I don’t really listen to one specific type of music at a time. I really like to sing along, but only if no one is around to listen!
SGW: If you were setting up a Saturday morning foursome with non-pro golfers, what three women and what three men would you like to tee it up with?
CREAMER: Well, first of all, my dad. He (and my mom) have been my biggest fans and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love and support. Talk about making sacrifices. My parents agreed to move from California to Florida when I was14 just so I could attend the IMG Golf Academies to better develop my game. I would also like to play with Shaq . . . although we’d probably need to play on a golf course with super wide fairways, because I’m guessing he might spray the ball on occasion. I would also like to play with Justin Timberlake. I ran into him at St. Andrews a little earlier this year and we said hi to each other and chatted for a minute or two. He’d be fun to play a round of golf with, I think. As far as women — how can my mom not be in my group? Like I said, she made huge sacrifices for me and she is my biggest cheerleader both on and off the course. Jessica Simpson would be in it as I have followed her career quite closely. Carrie Underwood would be a must as I have all her songs and I think she is tremendously talented. I would have to sweet talk the starter at the first tee into allowing a fivesome because I would also want Oprah Winfrey to join us. Wow, what a great group and fun day we would have!! Sometimes dreams do come true.
SGW: Aside from these e-questions, what is the dumbest question you’ve been asked by the golf media?
CREAMER: Where do I begin?? Ha-ha!
