Links For Women: Tell me a little bit about yourself and about your line?
Lannette Jamieson: I’m actually a choreographer. I choreograph at Olympic level with gymnast, athletes and figure skaters and the last thing I just worked on was some choreography with Josee Chouinard who’s one of our Canadian figure skaters.I have a heart condition, it’s a rare heart condition. My dad had said to me at one point ‘maybe you need to find a creative outlet, where you can do it from a laying position in stead of flitting all over the place. So that’s how I came up with wanting to have a golf line.Obviously being an athlete and a golfer myself and I married a golfer and my son’s a golfer – my family all golfs wherever we go and I was just very disappointed in the women’s golf clothes. So I wanted to make something that was really fashionable on and off the golf course. LFW: When did you start your line? When was the initial launch?
LJ: About three years ago, I started sketching and coming up with the concept and ideas. I’ve got two golf seasons out and my 2009 line is just being created now. It’s going really well, I’m having a lot of fun and I really super enjoy it and it’s just really great to have nice clothes. I mean, men come off the golf course and now-a-days they have such awesome clothes. They look so good in their golf clothes. They just have this look that I really find attractive on a man and I wanted a woman to be able to take off their golf shoes and put on her sandals and sort of freshen up before going to dinner. So that was really important to me, that I can have the versatility of the fashion of golf.
This black dress compliments any woman
who wants to feel sexy on and off the golf course.
LFW: How are you tying in the fashion into your personal life? Is it taking too much of your time?
LJ: I love my choreography, obviously I have a love for it. But I also have a love for creating these golf designs. I’m really enjoying it and I can’t really imagine my life without it to be honest. You sort of get wrapped up in it and it’s exciting. When you’re walking in a public place and you see someone at a bank machine wearing your outfit, it’s a great feeling to have just to look and see that they’re appreciating wearing it on and off the golf course. The versatility of the clothes was really my main goal, so succeeding in that goal, obviously gives me great joy and the feedback that I get from people who email me and come up to me and say ‘finally there’s a golf dress that looks great with golf shoes and I can actually wear it out’ because it just makes it all the more cost effective and you’re really getting your money out of it because now-a-days some golf clothes are fairly pricey and only wearing it on the golf course is not a great thing. So, if you can try and incorporate it into your daily life, then that’s ideal.
LFW: What are your future plans for your line? What goals do you have now?

LJ: So right now we are working on, obviously, hitting our own expectations for a really great golf line for next year. I’ve got a few prints that I’ve created and designed myself.I’m starting to possibly contemplate a resort line for 2009. So that’s something I’m really excited about. It’ll be more light clothes and not so much the golf attire. It’ll compliment each other, just to give people a little more of a selection.
Once you’re through your round change your
golf shoes for sandles to complete this look
for a evening out.
LFW: This fashion design line that you have, is that going to take away from your choreography?
LJ: I recently had a new partner join me, so I think that from this point on, it’s going to be a little bit more time consuming and my choreography with definitely be on the back burner for now. However, there have been some talks with doing some fashion shows in the future that, of course, I will incorporate my choreography into because that would just be a bonus. I have almost a Circt-du Solei troup where they do aerial contortion that hang from the ceiling and I think that would really compliment my clothing and even having the contortionists wearing some of my clothes, would even be an idea for the future. We have done a few fashion shows here and there and incorporate some of my choreography. I’ve had some salsa dancers perform and put my fashion show in theme and it works out really well. So it compliments each other but my focus right now is definitely on the golf line.
LFW: Anything else you’d like to add about your line? Your hopes for it?
LJ: I think that obviously we’re striving to be one of the top Canadian designers. Just really trying to listen to what women’s needs are, is a big goal of ours and try to fulfill them as much as we can. I also have a little ball marker that goes on the collar by magnet, and I’ve seen that magnet on other places but never on the collar of a golf shirt so that’s what makes us different.
