Tucked into the heart of the Canadian Rockies lies a resort that has consistently been ranked as the No. 1 golf resort in the land. Jasper Park Lodge is an oasis that has a perfect combination: one of the country’s best golf courses and one of the country’s best resorts. It’s the perfect spot to tee it up and then get pampered after the round.

First the course. It has jaw-dropping scenery with mountain vistas, lots of wildlife and an extremely playable course. It’s not a long layout and it’s fairly friendly off the tees meaning no matter how you hit the ball, you won’t walk off the 18th green feeling as if you’ve spent the afternoon in the dentist’s chair. Designed in the 1920s by Canada’s Stanley Thompson, the course has a lot of subtleties. On many holes you can use the distant peak as your target, and that didn’t happen just by accident.

When you’re finished, you can relax in the Insignia Spa or perhaps have a swim in the famous JPL outdoor pool. A cool beverage on the Emerald Outdoor Patio can be the perfect post-round decompress. Watch the sun set and take in the views of Lac Beauvert. On cooler days, the grand fireplace provides a relaxing warm-up.

Dinner options range from a culinary treat in the Edith Cavell dining room or something more casual in the Meadows restaurant.

You can also stroll through the shopping experiences in the basement of the resort or take a walk among nature in this Rocky Mountain paradise.

Guest rooms, of which there is lots of variety in size and view, are all well appointed and provide lots of luxury. The beds seem to wrap you and rock you to sleep, preparing you for another day in paradise.

Once you’ve been here, it’s easy to understand the No. 1 ranking.
