A pre shot routine sets players up for success by promoting solid fundamentals which leads to improved accuracy. The first move is to pick a target. This should be done from behind the ball. Pick something in the distance in line with where you want your ball to land. Hold your club out in front of you creating a straight line over your ball to that target. Pick an intermediate target along that line 1 to 2 feet in front of your ball. It may be a twig, an old tee or a scuff in the ground.
Line up your club face to that intermediate target. Many players line their feet up first then their club face. This will lead to off target shots. Once your club face is set, then align your feet and body to that position, and you will hit more fairways.
