I often hear my female students say that they need to learn to play better golf before they will invest in new equipment.
Many women think it’s OK to use their husband’s “hand-me-downs.” Often, that’s the worst thing you can do. Usually they are too heavy for you, and will not be the right length, lie, or grip size. In order to improve your game you need to have equipment that is suited for you.
It is essential to have the correct lie of clubs, which is the angle the club sits on the ground. When the lie is incorrect it will cause you to hit your shots either too far right or too far left. As well, this may happen if your grips are too thick or too thin. When your grip is correct, the fingers of your top hand will just barely touch the pad of the thumb without digging in. When you first pick up the club, it may not feel heavy to you, but it needs to feel the same when you are near the end of your round.
Remember you need to have clubs that suit your height, strength, and overall golfing ability.
