Some ladies get nervous playing with people they don’t know.
I get nervous on the first tee regardless of who I am playing with. I like to think that nerves are your body’s way of letting you know you’re in the present moment. Instead of letting them paralyze you, embrace them!
I always recognize the butterflies in my stomach on the first hole and then say to myself, “I’ve hit this shot 100 times, this is just 1 more time”. The worst that can happen is that I won’t hit a good tee shot. One shot does not make the round, so be practical. Acknowledge your feelings, and then focus on the task at hand. Get the ball in play and move on. If you do find yourself fretting when paired with people you don’t know, the more you play with other people the more comfortable you will be playing with strangers. Try to make it a habit to play regularly with people you don’t know. You may find that they are just as nervous as you at first.
Besides, everyone hits bad shots! It is all part of this great game we love…most of the time.
